Mr. Larkin
Hi everyone - I never really post on RLT, but I was told that there were some questions about Mr. Larkin. The song was wriiten by Chad after meeting a man named Bill at the Assisted Living Facility I worked at. Bill worked as a dishwasher at the home for a number of years and was truly a wonderful man. He was so mild mannered and tried so hard to do his job well. I had the opportunity to hire Bill after a very touching interview. He told me his story and the perdictament he was in with his cherished wife. She was quite ill and they couldnn't afford a decent faciity for her to live in. We were able to work out a way for her to live at the facility in the dementia unit that we offered. Bill was so dedicated to his job and even more to his wife. He added so much to her environment, for both his wife and the other residents. He was so loving and helpful. Mr. Larkin is a ficticious name for the Dining Services Coordinator. Sadly, Bill's wife died about four years ago very peacfully with Bill by her side. Luckily for Bill, he has found purpouse through his job and a new family in his co-workers. To this day, Bill still walks to work on route 27, and puts in a hard days work for Mr.Larkin. I hope you all enjoy this story.
I know Chad and I feel strongly about the state of elder care in this country. We can only hope that songs like Mr. Larkin and State Inspector open people's eyes to a new reality so that a higher quality of care (that's way more affordable) can exist.
As always everyone, thanks for the continuous support.
