Full video of Democracy in Kind benefit show now available
Calling All Crows announces new benefit show: Democracy in Kind
Democracy In Kind is this year’s Annual Calling All Crows Benefit—a one-night-only acoustic performance and conversation with Chadwick Stokes (DISPATCH, State Radio, solo).
The show weaves together:
- Songs from State Radio, DISPATCH, and Chad’s solo work
- Selections from his rock opera 1972
- Stories from the road, the organizing trenches, and the movements we’re part of
It’s a night of protest music and storytelling—looking honestly at the world as it is, and imagining a world where music and activism ignite courageous action.

Freckled Mary Official Selection at Sun Valley Film Festival! + DirectorQ/A
Director Michael Parks Randa has been selected for the Sun Valley Film Festival. The Freckled Mary video debuted just a few months back and appears to be getting the critical attention it deserves. Mr.Randa is also behind the studio videos from Rabbit Inn Rebellion.
In honor of this we will be holding a Director Q and A leading to the release of an alternate cut of the Freckled Mary video. Please submit your questions using this email or by posting in this thread on RLT. Questions will be accepted until we feel like not accepting, this will be roughly 12AM on March 4th.
If you haven't seen the Freckled Mary video, check it out here NOW!
We wish all the best to Mr. Randa at the festival.
Mini Video Series
Over the next few weeks we'll be operating under a Video theme.
First in line is a video of JSC from Asbury Park, NJ.
JSC or Heaven on their minds, as far as we can tell, was first played in 2002 at the Middle East in Cambridge, MA. That track is streaming here. It then went on a roughly 10 year hiatus. To be played acoustic at the NY Benefit and electric in the video below.

Calling all Crows 5K in Providence, RI - Donate Now!
Hello ccbSayIt readers:
We are pleased to announce that you can now donate to the Calling all Crows 5K through our site.
Calling All Crows was founded by Matthew Wilhelm, Chad Stokes Urmston, Sybil Gallagher and Jeb Gutelis with the input of many close friends. It is an organization dedicated to promoting human rights by mobilizing musicians and their fans to take action through public service and providing humanitarian aid.
The Calling all Crows 5K is focused on raising money to buy stoves for women in the Sudan. Without these stoves many of the women would have to risk being raped while venturing out to gather firewood.
On the left hand side of this page there is a yellow button labeled "Donate to CAC" if you would like to donate to this event you may do so through that button.
Thanks!

ccbSayIt Awesome Donation Prize Extravaganza
Dear ccbSayIt nation:
Any of you who are RLT regulars have probably seen some discussion on ways to improve ccbSayIt by adding new features. Those of you who are not RLT regulars, it's State Radio's message board which you should visit immediately after reading this.
There has also been a lot of discussion over the taping policy. To cover the increased cost of taping, as well as the cost of some amazing new ccbSayIt features we'll be revealing in the next few months, we're asking the ccbSayIt community to help us out. We're looking for donations in any amount. To donate just click the "Donate" button on the top left hand corner of the page.
Of course this wouldn't be fun without a little incentive, that's why we've decided to put everyone who donates more than 5 dollars into a lottery for 3 pretty sweet State Radio related prizes. Our goal for this little diddy is $250. So get donating!
New Addition: For every 5 dollars you donate you will be entered into the contest. So if you donate 20 that's 4 chances you get. Please feel free to donate as much as you'd like, however for some equality we will limit people to 6 contest entries.

Afternoon event (10/4 in CHICAGO!)
hey everyone! we put together a nice little afternoon event that we're really excited about.
We are going to ROCK with state radio on the night of Oct 4th at the house of blues, chicago. here's how to ROCK the afternoon...
first, come to northwestern's ryan auditorium (2145 sheridan road, evanston) to help out a new sudanese community center that just recently opened up in naperville il. the events start at 11:30am. some of the things we'll be doing:
making a hand print mural
paper/video petitions
buying save darfur merch (shirts/wristbands)
having a school supply drive
after this, we have put together a solid line up for a benefit show. bongo love, conor redig, howling poppies and pool water will be highlighting this...with a special guest appearance by STATE RADIO!!
so ok. you're probably thinking, "how much will this thing cost?! it seems amazing, it will probably be, like, at LEAST $2000 right?"
WRONG
it is only $5 for the whole day, and the best part is...we're not making any money off of this! all of the proceeds will be donated to the sudanese community center.
BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE.
not only will you get a chance to HANG OUT WITH STATE RADIO and all the other great musicians, you can also be entered in a chance to win the following:
DINNER WITH STATE RADIO
2 SOUNDCHECK PASSES (you must have tickets for the night show, this is just a free soundcheck, not a free show)
and best of all, we're auctioning off a GUITAR SIGNED BY ALL THE MEMBERS OF STATE RADIO.
those are just a few things you can win, we will also have some other things...
you don't want to miss this.
so you're now probably asking "what else can i do to help?!" so that's why we assembled this awesome list of stuff to bring. if you can bring ANY of the following things to either the afternoon event OR the house of blues show, that would make a huge difference. the school supplies listed below are going to sudanese refugee children and their families who need it. please bring as much as you can, we need to assemble a lot of these kits.
Here's a suggested list of stuff to bring, also if you could bring a "gently used" tote bag or backpack in order to put the stuff for the kids.
Each Kit will include:

3 pencils
1 large eraser
1 pencil pouch
1 box crayons (for younger kids)

Logo Contest [update]
All right readers of ccbSayIt.com, we have some disappointing news. Due to the lack of entries for our (not so) incredible artwork contest we are, unfortunately, going to have to postpone the contest. Entries will still be accepted but, for now, no one has won (and there is no set date on when these entries will be posted).
So basically here's the deal. You can still submit your INCREDIBLY AWESOME ARTWORK by sending an email to (make sure you follow the guidelines posted below). If we receive a significant amount of entries, we will then decide the top three and post them on the homepage as originally planned.
Thanks to those of you who did submit your design, we still have them so there is no need to re-submit anything.

ccbSayIt's INCREDIBLY AWESOME ARTWORK design contest!
Calling all artists (and people who have nothing better to do!) ccbSayIt is looking for a new shirt design! We want you to make some INCREDIBLY AWESOME ARTWORK. So with that, we’re kicking off the “INCREDIBLY AWESOME ARTWORK design contest!” Here’s the deal. You make a ccbSayIt logo, we’ll put it on our merch. Interested? Here are the technical requirements:
All entries must be:
1. 300dpi (dots per inch). To change the resolution in Adobe Photoshop, go to File > New and type in “300” next to “Resolution.” Be sure that you have the “pixels/inch” selected rather than “pixels/cm”.
2. CMYK color. Below where you typed in the resolution, there is an option called “Color Mode”. Typically, it will say “RGB Color” next to that option. Click on the drop down menu, and select “CMYK Color”.
3. 7in x 7in. Type “7” in both “Height” and “Width” options. Make sure the unit is inches, rather than pixels or anything else. The logo doesn’t have to fill up the entire space, but a 7 inch canvas is a good size.
4. In PNG format (in addition to .psd format). Save your creation as a png by going to File > Save As> then type in the title of your logo, and in the drop down menu, select "PNG"
Email all designs (YES, you can submit more than one design) to with “INCREDIBLY AWESOME ARTWORK” in the subject. Attach the designs in the email as jpg’s or, you can upload them to a hosting site (i.e. www.imageshack.us) and send us the link.
All entries are due on March 31st, 2008. Once we receive all entries, Shannon and Red will pick the three best logos and post them on the ccbSayIt homepage. Then, everyone will have an opportunity to vote on their favorite logo.
Good luck to everyone and although the winner does not physically get a million bucks, they’ll sure feel like it.

State Radio in Europe Video Interview
Our good friends at PatchMusic.info have compiled a fantastic video of their interview of State Radio this September. They opened up their message board to fan questions, which were answered by the band in the interview.
Quote from PatchMusic:
"On the 28th of September in 2007 we (Sascha Knapek and me, Christian Scholz) met Chuck, Chad and Mike in Cologne and asked them every question you gave us in the Redlettertribe- and patchmusic-forum. With this video footage, the following movie originated – we hope you’ll like it!"
At almost an hour in length, the video covers such questions as the revival of songs, new covers, where the band is going, their intentions, and everything in between. There are also videos of State Radio performing at various venues and, of course, tons of great State Radio music. Awesome job, PatchMusic!

WHOA! Welcome to ccbSayIt 3000!
Hey everyone... BIG news!
We've all been putting in long hours and putting our blood, sweat, and tears into insanely mundane and impossible tasks, but it's finally here! After almost 3 years of ccbSayIt, we've done the impossible -- we've made ccbSayIt even BETTER. ccbSayIt 2.0 was great, but we've added some new features and improved on some old ones to make ccbSayIt one of the most comprehensive fansites in existence. Let's do a basic rundown of the new features:
*Completely new design and interface. We've given the site's design a fresh and more sophisticated look, representing both our growth and maturity as a fansite and State Radio's growth as a band. It's much cleaner and much easier to navigate. We've also stretched the page to fullscreen so that there's plenty of room for all of our new content.
*Quick-look Sidebar. We designed this aspect of the new site to make it much easier to see the latest and greatest updates on ccbSayIt at a glance. Latest show downloads, latest photo sets, and latest downloads will keep you on top of everything new here. We are also going to be doing weekly polls, so check back every week for a new poll!
*Completely redesigned Discography page. The new discography page has larger album art icons and all tracks on one page. No more clicking through albums to get to a lyric fast! We have also adapted the Sidebar for discography to show other songs in an album for quick switching from lyric to lyric, along with a section for other albums to switch to a new album in a flash. We have also received permission from State Radio to stream all of their studio albums!. That's right, you can listen to State Radio CDs anywhere, anytime. This means that we now have every available recording of State Radio in existence to stream from our website. Enjoy!
*Refined Setlists Engine. We've refreshed our setlists system with a new setlists engine that fixes the problems plaguing the old system. No more empty, cut off, or lost setlists! Song frequencies have also finally been fixed. We have also made our Venue stats more comprehensive and added a new section for Other Band stats. You can now see statistics for all of the bands State Radio has toured with, the shows they've played, and whether they were opening/headlining/coheadlining. Go check it out!
*Refreshed wallpapers. We have removed the confusing screen resolution-based system and now have only one resolution for standard aspect ratio screens. We have also added a widescreen version of ALL of our wallpapers (laptop users rejoice!).
*Refined Media page. The pop-up player now links to the studio albums, and we still have our extensive photo library. We have also added videos for your viewing pleasure! Both the Downloads and Media pages have a refreshed and cleaner interface.
*Store. We are, as of today, selling official ccbSayIt merchandise. Grab a shirt and a sticker and show your ccbSayIt pride!
We hope you guys like our new website. A lot of hard time and energy was put into making the amazing site that lays before you. We'd like to thank the following people for their outrageous generosity and help:
Kevin Dean: Chief Programmer for the web design company Bionic Hippo. Kevin coded everything that you see, from the new discography page to the contact information page. Kevin put in a LOT of time and effort, and he deserves a ton of thanks.
Shannon Dunlevy: Shannon, one of the original two members of the ccbSayIt team, moved all of the setlists from the old system to the new. She also helped in the design critique process and wrote out almost all of the lyrics that you rely on on a daily basis.
Wells Riley: Wells designed the new interface and helped Kevin with usability and interface in the new site. Wells is the other of the two original ccbSayIt admins, as well as the chief Graphic Designer of Bionic Hippo.
Michael Lantow (Red): Red, the newest member of the ccbSayIt team, helped in interface critique, brand new 'best versions' in song stats, and general consultation. Red offered a fresh perspective and some great creative ideas. Also, thank Red for the full studio album streams!
Ricardo Klement: Ricardo is the administrator of our German sister site PatchMusic.info. Ricardo provided all of our backend administration technology, as well as the framework for the new setlists engine. Thank you for your generosity, Ric!
Again, we hope you like the new site! We'd love your feedback, and please do not hesitate to email us at . Also, if you notice any bugs, please email us and let us know.
Enjoy!
The ccbSayIt Team
MP3 Trading on Archive.org
Hey everyone,
After several discussions between State Radio taping/trading gurus, State Radio will, as of today, allow live show trading in MP3 format. We will be selecting the best representations of State Radio shows to release on Archive.org in MP3 format, alongside their lossless FLAC counterparts, in this transitional stage to unified trading.
Here are some of the benefits of MP3 trading:
*Shorter download times, and no time required to convert>burn>rip.
*MP3s are ready to listen to and load onto an iPod or other MP3 player.
*Easier to share
However with great power comes great responsibility. We've imposed a few rules to make sure the trading pool stays high-quality:
*Please do not burn MP3s to CD. If you would like a CD backup of a show, please download the lossless (FLAC) files only.
*Do not transcode MP3 files and distribute them. Transcoding happens when you convert the MP3 to a different format or bitrate.
If we can all follow these rules and if all goes well, the full catalog will be available in MP3 format sometime in the future. We hope that this helps spread the good word of State Radio to those who may be confused about FLAC trading, limited by slow internet, or bandwidth restrictions. Let the music play on!
The first show to be made available in MP3 format is 2006-11-15: Live at the 9:30 Club, Washington, DC. To view the download page, click here. To download the MP3s, click 'VBR ZIP' under the 'Download' pane on the left.
For questions or comments regarding taping and trading, please contact Wells at [].
For those interested in downloading FLAC files:
Due to Archive.org restrictions, it is not possible to download a full lossless zip file when MP3 is enabled. To download just the FLACs, follow the FAQ guide here.
Thank you for your continued cooperation!

The pop-up music player is BACK!
That's right, everyone! A few months ago we had to take it down because it was not compatible with the new MP3 player we installed that allows us to stream full shows (the purple arrow next to each show!). We took a little time today to fix it up and now it's up and running!
You can access the player three ways:
1: Click here! or on the button to the right.
2: Visit the Media section and click "Audio".
3: Visit http://www.stream.ccbsayit.com.
We hope you all enjoy the update!

Hey guys
We want to try a little experiment here at ccbSayIt by streaming the full show at Emerson on 10/11/06. We hope this will help out our friends who can't use BitTorrent for whatever reason. If it seems to be received well, we might do this for all past and future shows!
Edit-2006-10-17:
Seems like you guys really liked the idea, so we've decided to add the new feature! From now on you can stream any live show available to download by clicking the

Stream Full ShowSummer...
Hey everyone!
We hope everyone in SR Nation is enjoying their summers! The boys have a huge tour lined up for the rest of the season, and we wanted to remind you guys that ccbSayIt is still going strong through the summer; and we are ready and willing to accept your pictures, audio recordings, and setlists from any State Radio show you might catch! We hope all of you get the chance to see them, as this year is quite obviously the best year thus far for State Radio. We're excited for a tape of Unfortunates to come in from a future show so that we can stream it up for you guys!
If you haven't done so already, please sign up for our New Show Notification to be notified immediately when a new tape is available!
We'd also like to request that people please take down setlists for shows! State Radio has obviously been very busy with touring, so they seem to be no longer posting setlists. If you could be so kind as to bring a piece of paper and a pen/pencil with you to a show, take down a setlist, and submit it to us HERE we'd really appreciate it! Having a comprehensive setlists archive helps give an accurate readout of song and venue stats, and it also makes for a great archive! Thank you all for everything you do to help make ccbSayIt a fansite for the people, by the people!
Peace and Love to you all

Save DARFUR!
Hey everyone!
Just reminding you guys that we have a free Save Darfur poster available for anyone who wants to spread the word about the horrible crisis currently plaguing the Darfur reigon in Sudan that has taken the lives of over 400,000 Sudanese men, women, and children and has left over 2.5 million starving and over 3 million displaced from their homes. Just download the poster and print, and it will print onto a standard 8.5"/11" sheet of paper. It is grayscale friendly and we tried to conserve ink as much as possible without affecting the message. Plaster these EVERYWHERE and let's make a statement to the people and get word out!
There are a few versions of this poster, each with different links at the bottom of the page:
Generic link Poster
State Radio link Poster
Ryan Gaughan link Poster
For more information about the genocide happening in Sudan, check out the Save Darfur homepage.
